I love a burger that tastes like not-a-burger but feels like a-burger. Inspired primiarily by bánh mì, the Saigon Meat Welly is a really tasty replica of the classic French-Vietnamese sandwich, without losing sight of what makes a burger and fries so satisfying to eat.

The bun is toasty and dry enough to absorb all the lovely juices that pour out of the pickled veggies within. The steak and pâté are classic flavours that stay put really well inside the burger. I think this is the most holdable one this year. No mess, just pure clean containment.

The fries on the side are crispy but not what you’re supposed to be looking at. The burger is naturally colourful and exudes all the charisma of a sandwich that knows what it is and what it’s doing. Saigon Taste have another classic.
