The Croger – Glou Glou

Has France gone too far?

Non!

The Croger is the latest invention by Glou Glou and man, this one’s a bold one. It would have been so easy to slip a chicken tender into a sliced croissant and call it a day, but this is so much more than that. The chicken is crispy and accompanied by the real flavour stars; the pickles. There’s a dill ranch dressing that perfectly accents those sour notes and results in a chicken filling that I wolfed down without hesitation.

But that’s not why we’re here.

I’ll be honest, when they served me the burger with naught but a knife, I was worried. Surely, the croissant bun would disintegrate upon the traditional burger hold. The layers of pastry and butter would almost certainly collapse under the weight of my eager fingers. Again, non. The bun held fast. From beginning to end, the croissant maintained its structural integrity. Not a drop of ranch hit my nails. I didn’t even need to use the knife.

No doubt this bun was developed through mad science and/or wizardry, but the result is a croissant bun that is just as buttery and flavourful as Glou Glou’s regular croissant offerings, but as sturdy and strong as all burgers should be. The chicken tastes great but ultimately comes secondary to the innovation on display here. It’s a stroke of genius. Oui oui.
