The Three Pointer – Gemini Café

I’m not a basketball person, but I know a slam dunk when I see one.

Don’t be fooled by the sketch on the WOAP website, The Three Pointer by Gemini Café is as real as it gets when it comes to flavour and style. It’s a burger that many might skip over due to the higher price point, but it’s absolutely worth a try for the unique flavours and generous servings.

As its base is a thick, crispy chicken thigh that’s been coated in a non-threatening batter which absorbs all the spices of the above. The slaw is fresh and gives a complementary crunch, and the sauce is smoky and spicy, reminiscient of Korean chilli and mayonnaise. The onion rings add yet more crunch and sweetness. The bun is a soft-on-the-inside, crispy-on-the-outside triumph that’s designed like a basketball and it bounces back like one too.

But the hero flavour and the reason I was drawn to this burger in the first place are the braised crawfish loaded with cajun spices. They burst with heat and 깊은 맛 (The Korean equivalent of umami), and as with the rest of the burger, are scattered about generously to the point where I had them falling out of the burger, yet no bite went without. As someone whose Reels algorithm is crawfish boil 먹방 (mukbang) after crawfish boil 먹방, I wish I hadn’t waited this long to get my cravings sorted.

I’m obsessed with the burger and what the team at Gemini have done. It’s right on the edge of being overloaded, but hits that balance perfectly. It inches right up to the line, shoots its shoot, and swishes for the three points. Easily one of my favourites.
